and granddaughter of Retired Master Sergeant Thomas S. Woodruff and Rev. Vivian
Woodruff. She is a sophomore at Georgia Southern University majoring in
Biology/PreOptometry with hopes of becoming an Optometrist. LaKea’s platform is entitled
Preparing Youth For A Brighter Future. Through this she has served as a mentor and has
become a strong voice of influence to today’s youth. LaKea has spoken to various schools,
organizations and businesses about her platform issue. As a volunteer for the Children’s
Miracle Network, Angel Tree Project, Veteran’s Day Observance Committee, the Make A
Difference Day Project, the Iraqi Freedom Project, Relay for Life, Red Cross, Christmas
Cheer Project, and the Bethel A.M.E. Fruit Basket Ministry, she has witnessed first-hand
the value of community service and the importance of getting young people involved in
volunteer services. LaKea has received numerous awards for her community involvement
such as the Bob Ritchie Award for Outstanding Leadership and Community Service. Aside
from mentoring and volunteering in her community LaKea’s hobbies include running,
